$50K Body Mods - And Church Kicked Me Out | HOOKED ON THE LOOK

GROWING UP in a Christian family from a sleepy Texan town, Orylan never quite felt like she fit in. When her mother bought her a tattoo machine at the age of 14, Orylan was able to create her art and express herself in a brand new way. She fell in love with body modification and has spent over $50,000 covering herself with tattoos from head to toe, as well as having her eyes inked. A decade after receiving her mother's gift, the 24-year-old is now a tattoo artist helping others to achieve their ideal look. Orylan encounters judgement on a daily basis because of her appearance with people calling her 'demonic' and churches refusing to accept her as a member. Orylan said: "I've just always wanted to go to the church whenever I go. There are times that I honestly have panic attacks in the church where I'm like, I just have to leave." Today Orylan is returning to her family church - one of the few places where she truly feels accepted - as she reflects on her journey of embracing her authentic self.
