Jelly Roll Morton-Blackbottom Stomp 1926

In the mid 1920s, Victor was getting into "race" records and was looking for talent. Morton assembled a group who could play the "hot Style" jazz from Lil Armstrong Hardin's disbanded Dreamland Syncopaters. These 1926-27 tracts are considered the first hot syle jazz made and music historian David McGee states that these recordings are to jazz what Elvis Presley's Sun Recordings are to rock & roll.
