Google employees at the company's King's Cross offices protested on April 4 over thousands of redundancies the tech giant has planned globally, including hundreds in the UK.

Matt Whaley, a regional officer at the union Unite, said Google has not been behaving equitably during the redundancy process, with questions from staff going unanswered and union representatives not allowed in to negotiations.

He added the company has been refusing to hear grievances on the redundancy process from employees, and some individuals, including those with with mental health conditions, have been asked to show a doctors note to have a colleague attend their meetings.

A Google spokesperson said the company has been "constructively engaging and listening to our employees through numerous meetings", and is "working hard to bring them clarity and share updates as soon as we can in adherence with all UK processes and legal requirements".
