Starting this week, Disney ($DIS@US) will begin the first of three rounds of job cuts, which comes after his February pledge to axe 7,000 positions. Disney had about 220,000 workers as of October 1st, with about 166,000 employed in the United States. Cutting 7,000 jobs makes up about 3 percent of its workforce. The layoffs are part of a multi-billion dollar cost-cutting initiative to streamline the company’s operations. A second, larger round of layoffs will take place in April.
