First known as Westhill Estate, the Chong Pang of today was a tiny kampung in the jungle some 100 years ago.
Even in the 1970s, the village was still undeveloped with old rubber plantations.
Then as new townships and HDB flats were built all over the island in the 1980s, Nee Soon New Town was developed, including Chong Pang.
To preserve some of the kampung spirit, HDB created the first Chong Pang City then.
Now as part of the Government’s efforts to continually rejuvenate housing estates, plans for a new seven-storey integrated development named Chong Pang City were unveiled today (March 26).
This new development will house the Chong Pang Hawker Centre and Market, swimming pools, jogging track, a gym and a variety of shops including a supermarket.
Developed and managed by the Singapore Land Authority (lead agency) in partnership with the National Environment Agency, People’s Association and Sports Singapore, the integrated development is expected to be completed in 2027.
