There has been a significant rise in child deaths across Merseyside over the past year. Between April 2021 and March 2022, 104 children lost their lives in the region – an 18% increase on the previous year. The child death overview panel compiled the figures.

Teachers in Liverpool have walked out in a dispute over pay. Members of the National Education Union voted to take industrial action in a stand over pay and services. The Government say they've written to teaching unions inviting them to engage in formal talks.

Two major milestones have been met at the Festival Gardens site, with the excavation of the Development Zone complete and the planting of 4,500 trees. A scheme for potentially 1,500 homes is predicted to begin in 2025, subject to relevant planning approvals.
