SYNOPSIS OF FILM: WillyZeKid, our narrator, introduces us to South African cartoonist Zapiro, whose graphic "guerilla postering" and struggle art work contributed in the briging down of the apartheid regime; today he faces charges for his cartoons on Jacob Zuma, as he continues to play a watchdog fuction in the democratic process. WillyZeKid then tells us what its like to work on the continent in other countries and we hear a exile testimony from two former Camaroonians working on a satirical Popoli in the early 1990s. As WillyZeKid comes on screen he shows us a different struggle in Ivory Coast, where cartooning also played the role of reconcilation, despite the country beging torn in two by civil war , through the satirical Gbich! The film pays homage to the courage and imagination of these heroes of the pen and their fight for press freedom.
