Être artiste, c'est explorer le monde, en proposer un autre regard, mais c'est aussi le souhait d'être vu, entendu et remarqué. Être artiste aveugle ou malvoyant, c'est le même désir doublé du refus d'être jugé sur la performance liée au handicap. Doris Valerio perd la vue en 1987. Il va trouver dans la sculpture une nouvelle voie. Il suit des cours de poterie (notamment à l'Association Valentin Haüy) et de sculpture, puis créé son propre atelier. il a réalisé de nombreuses expositions personnelles et il est régulièrement primé.

To be an artist, is to explore the world, to offer another vision, but it is also the desire to be seen, heard and noticed. To be an artist who is blind or has visual impairment, is the same desire but doubled by the refusal to be judged on the performance related to the disablement. Doris Valerio loses his sight in 1987. He finds in his sculpture a new vocation. He follows courses on pottery (notably at the »Association Valentin Haüy) and sculpture, and then creates his own studio. He has had numerous personal exhibitions and regularly receives awards.
