DH Changemakers 2023 | Ramesh Ayodi | Creating a Modern Market for Traditional Khana Fabric in Guledgudda

After an education in Gadag’s Karnataka Handloom Technology Institute, Ramesh Ayodi came to Guledgudda to see the traditional Khana weaving.
He noticed the intricacies of the fabric and fell in love with it. After the advent of powerlooms, hand weavers started to lose their market. Further, direct marketing came to a standstill during the pandemic. Ramesh stepped in by getting a website built for the weavers and selling their fabrics online.
He has managed to help around 30 families in the village make profit. He wants to save the tradition of Khana Weaves and ensure that the weavers there wouldn’t have to move to the city.
