The medical director for secondary care at NHS England has said "we've prepared intensely for industrial action" ahead of Wednesday's ambulance strike. Dr Vin Diwakar also urged the public to call 999 if they think they have a life-threatening illness, but concedes that ambulance waiting times may be longer than usual. Report by Wardl.
