  • last year
The curtain is up and it’s showtime for Lucia Lucas, an international opera star who made history as the first transgender woman to perform an opera lead. The documentary, “The Sound of Identity” by the Emmy award-winning team Kirkpatrick & Kinslow Films, details the story of a person going through a pivotal moment in their career. Lucas is joined by her mentor and composer, Tobias Picker, on a journey leading up to the opening night of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” “In profiling the professional journey of Lucia Lucas, I believe I have also made the most personal film of my own career, a universal story of all the experiences that make up the people we choose to become,” said director James Kicklighter. Lucas is honest and inspiring as she shows the world the power a voice can truly have.
