Cynthia Talmadge: Winter Break / Carl Kostyál London

Winter Break is the title of a new installation of sculptures by Cynthia Talmadge (b. 1989, New York) at Carl Kostyál London. It’s her second solo exhibition with the gallery and consists of six pieces. These works transport us to the campuses of liberal arts colleges and universities in the northeastern United States, deserted over the winter holidays. They evoke a sense of melancholy. Cynthia Talmadge has described it as “the feeling of being the only person left in the dorms over winter break.”

Cynthia Talmadge lives and works in New York. She holds a B.F.A. in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. The exhibition at Carl Kostyál London runs until 5 November 2022.
