A rare fish weighing about 500 kg was netted from the Bay of Bengal near Paradip in Odisha on November 14. The local fishermen identified the fish as a rare species of sawfish which is found in the deep sea in both Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. A huge crowd had gathered to have a glimpse of the rare fish. Later, a Kolkata customer bought the fish for Rs one lakh. Sawfish oil is used to prepare medicine to cure some complicated diseases.
