George Morrison's Mise Éire Volta Award night

The speaker is George Morrison. At the screening of his film Mise Éire (it means I am Ireland). This year is its 50th anniversary. It was stunning. It's seldom you see footage from circa 1900 on a big screen. The footage that makes up the film is from 1895 to 1936. The footage of Countess Markievicz after her release from prison was remarkable. Hadn’t seen it before. An Ceann Comhairle, John O’Donoghue gave a bilingual speech that Yeats would have been proud of. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the making of Mise Éire, Mr O’Donoghue said that Mise Éire was the most important Irish film of the 20th century! And the man himself, George Morrison gave a graciously elegant speech in turn. I took video but only on my N70 phone, so the quality is not great. Mr.Morrison mentioned the film he did last year on Joyce. Must look out for it. Very interesting crowd of cine goers there, and a big applause at the end. An Ceann Comhairle presented Mr.Morrison with the Volta, lifetime achievement award.
