The first and only album by the duo Compton & Batteau. Guitarist John Parker Compton and violinist Robin Batteau were part of the group Appaloosa. Then the decision to record an album together. Unfortunately "In California" would be their only release, after that the roads parted: Compton to record a solo album and resumed the recording business in the 90s, while Batteau played in duo with his brother David before joining the band Pierce Arrow. The duo's sound was tied to folk, but drenched in West Coast sunshine feeling, with a perfect melody-led songwriting with additional proto-yacht rock feel that showcases the duo's ability in writing tunes.
