Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and this is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Tungnath mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys.
The 5 Km trek of tungnath from chopta is Moderate level. People generally start this trek as a Beginner. The inclination is little bit more so start your trek with slow and steady not in hurry.
Chopta valley also knows as Mini switzerland of Uttrakhand.
1km far from tungnath temple is Chandrashila peak. With high altitude 13000ft takes 4-5 hour from chopta. The view from chandrashila is unmatched from rest of the peak. You can see the best peaks of Himalayas from Chandrashila.
Keep yourself Physically fir before going to this trek and do some practice of walking or Running .Stay Hydrated, the high altitude and the low oxygen level will make you thirsty, carry your own water supply during the trek.
