King Charles celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s “dedicated service” as Britain’s longest-serving sovereign in his first address as monarch to both houses of Parliament on September 12, 2022.  His speech was part of a series of official events occurring across Britain ahead of a state funeral for the queen on September 19. It also marks the start of King Charles’ mourning tour to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, on which he will be accompanied by Prime Minister Liz Truss.
