Ganesh Chaturthi, a popular religious festival celebrated across India, has returned in jumbo style this year. To reduce crowd size and the spread of Covid-19, the statues of the elephant god Ganesha have been kept smaller for the last two years. But this year, the statues can reach more than nine metres (30ft) tall, prompting increased demand for seasonal statue makers. The Ganesh Chaturthi elephant god festival started on August 31, 2022 and will last until September 9.
