In 1971, the Robbs (formed of the three Donaldson brothers) changed their name to Cherokee and released one-self titled LP. Cherokee had set up their own studio in a rural California barn to record their own material, and they soon started recording other acts as well. "Cherokee" showcases a mix of covers and original material, grandiose vocals, country-rock oriented songs with some folkie and funk interludes. Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Gib Gilbeau and Chris Hillman as guests.
