Welcome to Travel Secrets, the TV Series that explores the exciting and fascinating each destination has to offer. These true-life documentaries with an attitude and insightful reporting reveal the inherent secrets of cities and regions. In this episode, Travel Secrets focuses on the hidden treasures of Temecula.

The Temecula Valley is located in Southern California in the northern part of San Diego County. It is bordered by the Santa Rosa Mountains to the north and the Temecula Hills to the south. The Valley runs east-west and is approximately 34 miles long and 9 miles wide.

Temecula Valley is best known for its wine production and its year-round warm climate. One of the most popular activities in Temecula Valley is wine tasting. The wineries also offer tours of their vineyards. Another great way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery is with a balloon ride. To immerse into the rich history of Temecula go on a guided tour through Old Town.

Temecula Valley is situated in the foothills of the Temecula Valley Mountains, which makes it a perfect destination for camping and outdoor activities. There are many things to do here, such as hiking, mountain biking, and fishing. The Temecula Vail Lake KOA is the perfect home base to explore everything Temecula Valley has to offer. The name "Temecula" comes from a Native American word meaning "place of old trees". You are in the middle of these old trees at the KOA RV Park because the park is situated in 385 acres of wilderness.

The Valley was originally inhabited by Native Americans, who left behind petroglyphs and pictographs on rock faces but also lots of relics. That’s why Travel Secrets TV organized a great Treasure Hunt in the creeks of the KOA RV Park. The nearby mountains have always carried placer gold in their streams. In most cases, the creeks and rivers that flow through mining areas in the mountains will have some gold in them. There are also Indian artifacts buried in the sand. We promised, that when we find some, we will give them to the Pechanga Tribe for their museum. We don't have to do this, but we want to be respectful of their Native American Heritage.

The proceeds from this special activity support the KOA Care Camps. KOA Care Camps is a charity, founded by campground owners, that helps children with cancer enjoy a care-free time where they can focus on fun, friends, and activities at sleep-away camps.

Now let’s see how our treasure hunters performed in this exciting adventure.
