Members of William Branham’s cult of personality are familiar with one of the mysterious cloud formations that floated across northern Arizona in February of 1963. Photographs or paintings of the cloud hang in their homes, offices, and even in their churches. According to Branham, the cloud was “seven angels” and he stood just below the largest of the cloud formations.
Some cult members are now aware that Branham was not under the cloud at the time of the event, that the cloud was hundreds of miles north of his hunting location, and that Branham was in Houston Texas at the time Vandenberg Air Force Base missile detonations caused the cloud formations. Though Branham convinced a handful of cult members to be “witnesses”, the event happened before hunting season. Before this became common knowledge among the cult, cult leaders attempted to conceal this very critical information.
After Vandenberg AFB released records of their missile launch and former cult members began sharing details of the timeline, however, cult leaders were forced to change their story. The most peculiar defense of William Branham’s invalidated claim came from Branham’s son-in-law, George Smith. George openly admitted that William Branham could not be under the cloud, because Branham admitted that he went on the trip after his Houston meetings held for Leslie Douglas Ashley. According to George, “it’s not a contradiction, it’s just a clarification of the fact that he was not out there on February the 28th, but a week later and it was in another dimension.”
