NOFAR, who’s 22 and grew up in Israel, transitioned at 15 and started taking hormone replacement therapy at 17. As a trans woman in Israel she’s faced plenty of barriers. Her father didn’t accept her as trans growing up which made it harder for her to get permission to medically transition. She says she had to stand in front of a judge and beg them to let her begin taking hormones, fortunately the judge said yes and the hormones have changed her life. During the earlier stages of Nofar’s transition, strangers would yell at her on the street but that doesn’t happen anymore and she believes that it’s thanks to taking hormones that people have stopped harassing her as now no one can tell that she was born presenting as male. Today Nofar is going to walk down a street that she used to be afraid of and enjoy her new freedom as a trans woman.
