The 96-year-old monarch’s mobility problems and general discomfort have raised doubts about whether she will ever be up to riding in a horse-drawn carriage again. But after a two-year absence during the Covid-19 pandemic, some form of carriage procession involving members of the Royal Family is expected to go ahead at this summer’s race meeting. It is a tradition dating back to George IV in 1825.
