In Brazil, 26 species and seven subspecies of this genus are found in the following regions: North in the state of Amazonas; Northeast in the states of Bahia, Paraíba and Pernambuco; Southeast in Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and South in Paraná and Santa Catarina.
