April 10 sees the 30th anniversary since Heartbeat was first aired on Yorkshire Television. It was filmed in the village and used many local scenes, buildings and people as extras
The show ran until 2010 when it was stopped. Many people feared it would decimate the tourism and economy that Goathland had benefitted from as a result of the show being filmed there.
However, it is still shown on ITV3 and remains very popular - it is also now shown around the world and is particularly popular in Denmark, Norway, and the village is still popular with visitors.
