Today’s topic: phrasal verb “put on weight” has two different meanings
- if working out or exercising with weights, one can put on weight from muscle mass.
- when someone eats too much and doesn’t exercise, she/he can put on weight, body fat.
Examples
The young man was skinny, but started to lift weights and started to put on weight.
Her brother ate so much sweets and potato chips which meant he was putting on weight.
