Budget Session: Pegasus, Indo-China border issues likely to be raised, Economic Survey to be tabled

The Opposition parties are likely to raise the Pegasus spyware issue, problems faced by farmers and the border row with China as the Budget Session kicks off today. Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has already written to Speaker Om Birla to move a privilege motion against the government and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for "misleading" the House last year. The government had denied all charges of "spying" in a statement in Parliament in 2021.

Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey in Parliament today. The document is prepared by the chief economic advisor (CEA), but this year, it was prepared by the principal economic adviser and other officials as the post remained vacant following Krishnamurthy Subramaniam's term that ended in December.
