The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has banned the radical Islamic outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) for five years following multiple raids on its functionaries by central agencies across several states.

On September 22, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches against the PFI in 15 states, arresting 106 people. The second round of raids took place on Tuesday in eight states. During the raids, the agencies recovered incriminating materials, including a guide to making explosives and surveillance equipment.
