A Failed Remaster of Glenn Gould's Toronto (Excerpt)

Glenn Gould's Toronto is a CBC documentary presented by Glenn Gould and produced by John McGreevy and Pat Ferns. In this section, Gould outlines his views on the overall day-to-day life within and culture of the eponymous city.

Originally broadcast in 1979.

This is a failed attempt at a digital remaster of this documentary using AI technology. The ensuing result made extreme distortions of faces and other aspects of daily city life which, although visually disturbing in one sense, were still interesting, humorous, and strangely reminiscent of old, low-poly video games. I decided then that it was still worth uploading. I also had to blur the center of the screen, which featured a watermark from the AI app. Finally, a last factor to this video's strange nature came in when I got a copyright claim on the original video, leading me to have to distort the audio.
