TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - Marcus Garvey created the “Back to Africa” movement and is regarded as the first person of color to create a mass movement to promote the destiny of the people of Africa.
During the 1920s, Garvey made frequent references to the future crowning of a king in Africa.
In his teachings, he urged those of the African diaspora to not only return to Africa but also “Look to Africa, when a black king shall be crowned.”
That prophecy was realized with the crowning of the last Emperor of Ethiopia “Haile Selassie.”
