Covid-19: Omicron variant surfaces in 63 countries

The Omicron variant of coronavirus, first reported in South Africa last month, has found its way to 63 countries, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The rapid spread of the newly discovered strain has led the WHO to believe that Omicron could surpass Delta variant in transmission speed.
"However, given the current available data, it is likely that Omicron will outpace the Delta variant where community transmission occurs," the WHO said.
