Grow your Vegetables
My Presentation today is to make members aware of the dangers of eating vegetables from our market .Let remember what
President Spencer W. Kimball once said to members “to grow all the food that you feasibly can on your own property. …Grow vegetables and eat them from your own yard. Even those residing in apartments or condominiums can generally grow a little food in pots and planters. Study the best methods of providing your own foods. Make your garden … neat and attractive as well as productive.”1
As such What are the options available: one of it is Hydroponics
A few years ago I had my foray into vegetable farming on a 30 acres of land. And I was shocked to discover the many misconceptions about vegetables ,What you are about hear is recondite to the farming industry
Here are the 6 reasons why I am pitching and rooting for vegetables to be grown via Hydroponic:
1)Firstly it can be grown by anyone even those living in apartments and those without garden space. All you need is a small room, a balcony space or a small yard and you don’t need an extraordinary tenacity to grow them
2)Secondly it is more sweeter , tastier, it is fresher than the vegetables grown in the soil, I is more crunchier and delectably sweet to taste .why ? is this so: because they receive all the nutrients and nourishment they need when grown in hydroponics: unlike those grown in the soil. And it is more dazzling and beautiful array of vegetables to look at
3)Thirdly some say it is more costly to install the equipment but nothing like having vegetables during hard times where there may be scarcity in the market, During time of difficult times such as economic crises, wars or economic down turns: the vegetables grown from the homes will be all the more worth it and further more it n the long run it is more worth it
4)It is healthier, let see the images in this slides
A)These images will explain; do u know that the kangkong is fully grown with 3 weeks of planting, during which: the chemicals(Insecticides and pesticides) are sprayed every 2 days with 2 types of chemicals: Such as Malathion
B)Do you know the Bayam is even more intoxicated with insecticide with more than 3 different types of pesticides And are sprayed for more than 3 times each week.
C)The Sawi is the far worst of them all, the chemicals sprayed are about 5 types almost every day it is sprayed for 3 weeks to keep the relentless attack of insects away
See these images of grapes with grey stains on it? Any one can type in the chat box, Do u know these stains are the pesticides sprayed to stop the pest from ravaging the grapes. Many a times grapes are eaten unknowingly . If these stains are not removed and are ingested and the trajectory of its effects is unknown.
What about Organic vegetables
You may say lets go organic. Do you know most of the organically grown vegetables are not really organic: WHY? Why ! there is no one to regulate the chemicals sprayed on it by the so called organ
