Andrew Yang makes his pitch for reforming with his Forward party

Andrew Yang talks to Salon's Dean Obeidallah about his plans to "unlock real reform" with the a new third party called Forward, which pushes for ranked-choice voting. The former NYC mayoral candidate, former presidential candidate and proponent of universal basic income, is the author of a new book "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy," which looks back on his takeaways from the campaign trail and his vision of reform.

Yang talked to Salon about what aspects of America's current two-party system need to change to reduce polarization and improve lives. "At this point, everything is on the table," Yang said. While Yang dives into big money in politics and identifies problems, he tries to make the optimistic point that even though the "nastiest, most unthinkable things you can imagine are realistic possibilities," on the other hand, "unthinkably positive things could be possible too."
