Award-winning actor Jeff Bridges talks to Salon’s Melanie McFarland about his FX series, “The Old Man,” in which he plays Dan Chase, a CIA operative with a dark past. Bridges opened up about the physicality of the role, shared how he prepared and reflected on the state of his health after recovering from Covid-19 and cancer. "I got to experience dancing with my mortality,” Bridges said. “I learned things during that illness that I would not have been privy to if I hadn't gone through that experience. It wasn't necessarily new stuff, but I found that all of my philosophies about life and ideas of spirituality and different strategies that have worked in my life in the past, all of those were kicked into overdrive. I got super curious about we're not alone in this situation. Thousands of years have gone by with people struggling with all the things that we struggle with today.” Watch more to hear about “The Old Man” and why Bridges will always watch and love The Dude from the beloved film “The Big Lebowski.”
