Narendra Giri, bold saint who headed 13 akharas: Panchanand

The mystery of the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, is getting complicated. According to the police, a handwritten suicide letter in which he wrote his will and the names of a number of people who had been allegedly troubling him was recovered from the room. The UP Police are viewing the case, prima facie, as a suicide. However, one of the seer’s most ardent disciples Anand Giri has alleged that he did not die by suicide but was ‘tortured over money’ and ‘murdered’. Anand Giri’s name was mentioned in the suicide note and he has been detained, along with two others, by the UP police. The politics on the matter has also been intensified. BJP and Samajwadi Party are having political allegations over Mahant's death that whether he committed suicide or was he a victim of some conspiracy.
