Tech Workers Rethink Texas After Abortion Law

Texas planned to be a tech haven, but its new abortion bill is causing tech workers to rethink a move. Texas has sold itself to start-ups and tech companies like Oracle ($ORCL@US), Hewlett-Packard ($HPE@US), and Tesla ($TSLA@US) in the past years. Big players like Facebook ($FB@US), Amazon ($AMZN@US), and Apple ($AAPL@US) have all grown their presence in the state with new warehouses, data centers, and production facilities. In August, Texas had more than 30,000 tech job openings, the second-highest after California and up 56% from last year. Some Texas-based tech companies are covering out-of-state abortion services for workers, and companies are starting to reconsider commitments to the state.
