Haiti Death Toll Reaches 1,400

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Saturday, killing hundreds of citizens and leaving thousands displaced. Heavy rain and Tropical Storm Grace drenched Haiti Monday and Tuesday, making rescue efforts near impossible for first responders. The southwestern parts of the country, the area hardest hit by the earthquake, saw strong winds and heavy rain as Grace regained strength as a tropical storm after falling to tropical depression level. Prime Minister Ariel Henry declared a month-long state of emergency for Haiti, saying government aid was headed to destroyed towns and hospitals, per AP.
