What Has Payton Pritchard Shown In Summer League

The NBA Summer League is a place for young players to get their chance to prove they can be part of their team rotation. Celtics saw flashes of what Payton Pritchard could be beginning of last season, but he hit a rookie wall. Pritchard now has his chance to recover and separate himself from other young prospects in Las Vegas Summer League.

Off to a good consistent start, as he led all scorers with 23 points
in the Celtics’ 85-83 victory over the Hawks. As the top option, Pritchard dominated from the three-point line, making seven out of 15, including one to secure the win. He also put together a nice showing with a double-double vs the Nuggets, scoring 21 points on 6-10 shooting, along with 12 assist and 8 rebounds. A playmaker is something the Celtics need and something that Pritchard is working on as he said after practice:

There’s different situations where you need to score and different situations where you need to, like, get your team more involved and stuff like that. It’s all part of it.”

“We didn’t want to shoot the ball too quick; we wanted to get something good,” Coach Joe Mazzulla said. “So that’s the growth of, like, how can I get the best possible shot either for myself or for my teammates based on how the game is going?”

Garden Report hosts in Bobby Manning and A. Sherrod Blakely discuss what has Pritchard shown in summer league so far in regards to his development, specifically as a playmaker.
