AFI to celebrate August 7 as National Javelin Day to mark Neeraj's Olympic gold medal win

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) felicitated the Indian Olympics athletics team in Delhi on Tuesday. Gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra also attended the event. “The Athletics Federation of India’s planning committee has decided to further promote javelin throwing and will hold competitions every year throughout the country on August 07 as Neeraj Chopra won the gold in Tokyo Olympics on this day,” said Lalit Bhanot, the Chairman of AFI Planning Committee.
