Body of a 55-year-old American climber, who died on Mount Everest earlier this month, was airlifted to Kathmandu on May 30. The body was taken to Kathmandu hospital for post-mortem examination. Climber, Puwei Liu suffered from snow blindness and exhaustion while descending from Hillary Step (max height he gained). With the help of oxygen support he was safely brought to camp at South Col. Unfortunately, the climber died there. Spring season this year witnessed a total of three deaths in the Everest Region out of which Liu is the first casualty reported in 2021. In the year 2020, Nepal closed all its mountains in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in Earth's highest altitude.
