Flamingos return to Kazakhstan's Karakol Lake as spring begins

Pink flamingos were seen returning to Lake Karakol in Kazakhstan after the winter, in the Mangistau region.
Flamingos stop here every year in spring and autumn during their migration. The first small flock arrived at the lake in late February, when snow and ice were still visible on the surface.
According to birdwatchers' observations, about 90 species of birds stop at the lake each year to rest from their flight or to wait out the winter.
