Merkel defends extension of lockdown

Chancellor Angela Merkel has admitted to failings in dealing with the second wave of coronavirus infections. She told the Bundestag that the government had not been careful or fast enough. The chancellor was jeered by the opposition as she defended the decision to extend the national lock-down for almost another month.
