A native of Decatur, GA - Jeremy Reid - better known as “J. Reid” or “Chevi”, is a Recording Artist, Record Producer, Writer & CEO of Chevi Muzic Productions based out of Atlanta, GA. He most recentlysigned on to work exclusively with Nicki Minaj and is credited on her album, Queen - producing 5 of the songs - including her hit singles , Chun-Li & Barbie Tingz. Way before working with a mega super star like Nicki Minaj, J. Reid wasalways surrounded by music growing up. He soon realized his passion for sounds at a young age, as his mother and grandmother sang at their church, and he was in the marching and concert bands in high school. He eventually knew that he wanted to pursue his talent with music when he went to one of his cousin’s football games and saw a halftime show for the first time. He
watched with amazement as the band played in harmony; marching to the drum beats simultaneously. Knowing that he needed to perfect his craft, he
began playing multiple musical instruments. He learned how to play the trumpet, french horn, drums, bass guitar and the trombone.
J. Reid attended Alabama A&M, and majored in business administration. He ended up leaving college to pursue a music career and to start his own
record label. He eventually began making beats at his cousin’s house for people that he knew. It didn’t take long for his talent to get noticed. J. Reid first
witnessed his music reach millions of people when he worked with hip-hop artist, Lil Boosie. Soon after, he began producing for the OMG Girlz. His other
production credits include: Moneybagg Yo, Webbie, Lloyd and City Girls. J. Reid describes his sound in one word - “fast”. He says, “I don't just do
one genre of music. There are producers who only produce rap music or R&B. I have placements in multiple genres of music.” J. Reid also
knows music theory. He applies the years of music education to his production skills. As J. Reid merges various sounds from scratch, he
likes to “pick the artist's brain”, and then go back and experiment with different sounds until he and the artist know exactly what they want to
create.
The first artist signed to his label was Jamar Langley. Now he is working with a roster of indie artists - including, a rap duo known as, the Pachino
Brothers, a female rap artist named Official Morgan, a rapper named Ka3z and he works closely with artist, 2xO. Soon, J. Reid plans on
expanding his empire even more in the near future. Currently, J. Reid just wrapped a project with Zonnique. He is still signed to
Nicki Minaj as a producer and is also working on a compilation album - which he produced himself. He's also gearing up to create
another platform for artists to drop their music.
