The central government will hold the 7th round of talks with the farmer unions on January 04, even as their protest against the three new farm laws entered the 40th day. Farmers, agitating at multiple Delhi border areas including the Singhu border, the Ghazipur border, Tikri border among others, have time and again reiterated their demand of repealing what they term “black laws”. Protesting farmers and the government have held six rounds of discussions, but with no concrete solution. During the sixth round of talks on December 30, the consensus was reached on stubble burning and safeguarding power subsidies. Farmers are adamant on their demand to roll back the three laws and a legal guarantee for MSP.
