That's the fewest since he took power in 2012.
According to data released by the Sejong Institute on Friday, the figure is much lower than last year's 85 and less than a quarter of the figure for 2013.
Kim made zero diplomatic activity related appearances.
Instead, domestic political activities accounted for nearly half of all public appearances.
The institute explained that it was a difficult economic situation for the regime because of the global crisis.
It added that instead of visiting sites amid the pandemic, Kim focused more on meetings.
