Corsica 2019 - Part 1 - Genova, Savona and the Ferry

We were supposed to take a day train from Germany to Genova, but missed it (a whole story on its own). In a rush, we booked an overnight bus to still make it to our ferry the next day. We arrived in Italy early enough to still enjoy the beautiful city of Genova.
In the evening, we headed to Savona-Vado Ligure, where I had an encounter with an "old friend": the ferry Corsica Victoria. The last time I travelled on board this ship was in June 1995, from Ajaccio to Genova. I was a small kid back then, but remember it pretty well. Now, some 24 years later, the ship is still in surprisingly good shape... a classic ferry with lots of outside space, of the kind not being built anymore nowadays.
After a short but good sleep, we arrived in Bastia early next morning. We retrieved our rental car & began our 2-weeks road trip across Corsica.
