Is your home pet-friendly? Some pets are more challenging in an apartment so you’ll need to study your living situation and choose your pet accordingly.
Are you prepared? Keep in mind that you’ll be sharing your life with your pet for the next decade so be prepared that your life will need some adjustments.
What breed is right for you? Some breeds requires more space than others, or to be out more often. Choose a breed that fits your lifestyle.
Do you have realistic expectations? Owning a pet is not only about playing and cuddling.
There are heavy responsibilities so read books about the breed you want, talk to pet owners to see how it is really to own a pet.
Can you change your life for your pet? A pet is going to change everything, you’ll have to move things around, to make space for it, to work your schedule around it, to get it out a few times a day.
Are you really willing and ready to make those changes?
Owning a pet is a beautiful experience but let’s not forget they also get abandoned so think seriously before getting one.
