Traffic or electro? Monkeys choose their soundscape in Helsinki zoo study

When white-faced saki monkeys at Helsinki Zoo were given the chance to choose their own music or sound effects as part of an experiment to see how technology could improve the wellbeing of animals in captivity, researchers found they demonstrated a significant preference for traffic noises. The animals can trigger sounds which are activated when they pass through a special tunnel installed in their enclosure, in a project which aims to find ways to allow the South American primates to control their own environment while in captivity.
