Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was released late Tuesday night after being detained by the government for nearly 14 months - since it scrapped Article 370 in August and since being charged under the Public Safety Act. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah welcomed Mufti's release with a tweet, who had been in detention since August 5 last year, when the Centre announced its massive decisions to revoke special status to Jammu and Kashmir and the bifurcation of the then state into two Union territories. The National Conference leader said her detention was a travesty and against the enets of democracy.
