The Moment Is Now !!!

With the beginning of the year 2009, looking no more 'peaceful' than the end of 2008... I remain somewhat 'pessimistic' about the future !
I often hear of people 'praying for peace'... and whilst I do believe in God... I suspect that if we truly want 'peace'... we need to be doing a lot more than just 'praying for it'. As an International Community, we need to be demanding it !!!
I sometimes wonder about the 'intellect of mankind' and 'our ability to learn from past mistakes' and to prevent a recurrence of them from leading to our self-destruction. I occasionally remind myself of the devastation that was caused by the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan... and when I look at the number of Nuclear Weapons that remain scattered throughout the world... it leaves me somewhat 'pessimistic' about the prospects for man's continued existence on this planet.
The year 2008 left me 'more ashamed at being a human being' than I have been at any other time in my life... and if people want to continue to 'pray for peace' rather than actively pursuing it... I suspect that the year 2009 is going to leave me even more ashamed !
I personally, am disgusted at the number of innocent civilians who continue to be killed in conflicts throughout the world... and unless we of the International Community, strongly voice our disapproval of such a tragic waste of human life... we should consider 'our inaction' to be a major contributing force in encouraging further conflicts that threaten the future of our children !!!
"We the People, demand the resolution of conflicts, by means other than 'violence' !!!"
